किरण बंसल के बेटे तरुण बंसल ने उन्हें बर्थ डे का गिफ्ट देने के लिए ईबे (eBay) से एक आईफोन-6 खरीदा | जिसमे 39 हजार 999 रुपये का भुगतान ऑनलाइन बैंकिंग से किया| किरण बंसल के कानूनी प्रतिनिधि वरुण बंसल की और से फोरम (forum) में दावर वाद के अनुसार अगस्त 2016 में ईबे (eBay)  का कोरियर मिला जिसमे डेड फ़ोन था | कंपनी को शिकयत की गयी तो रिफंड (refund) या फिर नए फ़ोन का आश्वासन दिया गया | 

उन्होंने 1680 रुपये खर्च कर कंपनी को डेड फ़ोन भेज दिया | फिर कंपनी की और से डिलीवरी बॉक्स भेजा गया जो की पूर्ण रूप से खाली था | इसके बाद फोरम में बाद विवाद लगाया गया | इसमें 18 प्रतिशत ब्याज के साथ 39 हज़ार 999 रुपये रिफंड करवाने और ५० हज़ार रुपये की क्षतिपूर्ति की मांग की गयी | उपभोक्ता न्यायालय (consumer court) ने वाद का फसल सुनते हुए ईबे (eBay)  को आईफोन की कीमत ३९,००० रूपये १२ प्रतिशत ब्याज के साथ लौटने का आदेश दिया और २,००० रुपये वाद का व्यय और 5 हज़ार रूपये की क्षतिपूर्ति का भुगतान उपभोक्ता (consumer) के पक्ष में निर्णय लेते हुए ईबे (eBay)  को आदेश दिया | वरुण बंसल ने आईफोन की कीमत, वाद व्यय क्षतिपूर्ति व 1680 रुपये कोरियर फीस समेत 48 हज़ार 679 रुपये का भुगतान डी. डी. से किया |
